JACKSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - Crews responded to an apartment fire around noon on Wednesday, December 10.
According to Murphysboro Fire Chief Steve McBride, the second floor apartment was a total loss.
The building is in the 1000 block of Chestnut Street, behind the Jackson County Courthouse.
The fire chief said the flames were coming out of the back window when crews arrived.
No injuries were reported, but he said two people were displaced by the fire. They are being assisted by the Red Cross.
The Murphysboro Fire Department was assisted by multiple agencies including the Carbondale Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
