SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The ACLU of Iowa released a report this morning on Automated License Plate Readers in use across the state.
Automated license plate readers, or ALPRs, are cameras used by law enforcement agencies.
The cameras capture license plate information, and allow law enforcement to locate wanted individuals and suspects in violent crimes, abductions and other crimes.
The ACLU of Iowa claims that these cameras violate the privacy of law-abiding citizens, and they are urging lawmakers to draft legislation to regulate them.
