New Delhi, Dec 11: Indian Railways has increased its daily train services to 11,740 as of November 2025, up from 11,283 prior to Covid-19.
The number of Mail and Express services has expanded to 2,238 from 1,768. Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a Lok Sabha reply, noted the rationalization of the timetable with IIT-Bombay’s assistance, aimed at enhancing passenger safety and train punctuality.
Currently, 164 Vande Bharat trains are operational, including a new Sleeper variant under trial. These Sleeper trains feature advanced safety measures, including the KAVACH safety system, regenerative braking, UV-C disinfection, and enhanced communication facilities for emergencies.
