GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. — The sister of murder victim Laurie Ann Powell is speaking out after the nearly 40-year-old cold case was solved.
"If I had to describe her, I was the day she was the night. I was a Yin, and she was a Yang," said Cindy Kirchner.
She's speaking out after Virginia State Police linked Powell's death to the Colonial Parkway killer Alan Wilmer over three weeks ago.
Cindy Kircher, older sister to Laurie Ann by just twenty-one and a half months, said she never lost hope that one day answers would come.
Kirchner described her sister as a smart, independent and talented individual.
"She didn’t have to open a book," said Kirchner. "She was just smart, she could take a test without ever cracking open a book.”
