CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
An off-duty Cambridge police officer was shot at while parking his car early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.
A Cambridge Police Department spokesperson said an unknown armed suspect confronted the off-duty officer, who was not in uniform, around 4 a.m. in the area of Evereteze Way.
It's unclear what led up to the confrontation.
As the victim was trying to drive away in their private vehicle, the suspect fired several shots, shattering the rear window, according to investigators.
The victim was unharmed and made their way to safety.
Police say they recovered ballistic evidence at the scene.
A description of the suspect was not immediately available, and it's unclear if the suspect knew the victim was a police officer.
