GREENFIELD, Iowa —
For the last year and a half, life's been different for Adair County's EMS services.
In May of 2024, the old EMS station was completely destroyed by a devastating EF4 tornado. But Wednesday night was the start of a new chapter: the opening of a brand new EMS facility.
"It's been a long journey." EMS Director Chris Roberts said.
With help from insurance funding and community donors, the station that was once reduced to rubble was able to rebuild. Roberts says it's been a long time coming.
"I have a resilient crew. They showed up every day, they were positive. I mean, it was a bad hand they were dealt, but they handled it very well," he said.
