WIGGINS, Miss. (WLOX) - On Wednesday, a Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) trooper returned home four months after he was injured in a wreck.

Trooper Tavon Moore was seriously hurt during a motorcycle wreck on August 2nd in Harrison County.

First responders and the South Mississippi community welcomed him back home to Wiggins with a special escort after months of treatment at a Georgia facility.

Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) Trooper Cal Robertson said Moore’s recovery has been difficult, but the highway patrol has supported him through it all.

“We’ve always been there, supporting him. The DPS family has supported him, as well as the community. It speaks for itself when you come out here and look, a lot of community members here who helped support him along the way.
