Baripada : Artificial intelligence-enabled cameras (IR cameras) and Infrared Trap Cameras installed across Similipal South Wildlife Division played a crucial role in busting a five-member poachers’ gang.
Acting on a tip-off, officials from Jenabil Wildlife Range, led by the Range Officer, raided Jadidar village on December 9 and nabbed five poachers, who were found in possession of prohibited items, including a handmade gun, snares, and wild boar meat.
The seized items include two torches, seven snares, a gun barrel, 535 grams of dried wild boar meat, and a polythene sheet allegedly used for preparing gunpowder. A loaded handmade gun was also recovered from a bushy area near the accused’s house.
