MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is taking action after the situation surrounding Morgan Geyser's escape from her Madison group home. She took off her GPS monitoring device and left town, before being caught in Posen, Illinois.

A letter from DOC Secretary Jared Hoy to Sen. Eric Wimberger and Rep. Robert Wittke outlines the department's actions following the incident.

DOC leadership began investigating the timeline of events on November 23, and three staff are on administrative leave. "Formal personnel investigations have been initiated reviewing the sequencing of events, response times, and adherence to policies or procedures", Hoy said. The letter states that placing the staff members on leave during the investigation is standard practice.
