The Red Sox already have bolstered their starting rotation this offseason by trading for righties Sonny Gray and Johan Oviedo .

The Athletic on Wednesday linked Boston to Brewers ace Freddy Peralta, a 29-year-old righty who finished fifth for the 2025 National League Cy Young award.

The 29-year-old Peralta is eligible free agency after the 2026 season when he’s set to earn $8 million.

The two-time All-Star went 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 3.64 FIP, 204 strikeouts and 66 walks in 33 starts (176 ⅔ innings) this past season.

The Athletic noted that “no deal appears close.”
