Cambridge police are searching for a gunman they say shot at a driver as they tried to flee an early morning confrontation with the suspect.
Officers responded to Cambridge Street near Evereteze Way for a report of gunfire around 4 a.m., Cambridge police said in a press release . They soon learned that a suspect unknown to the victim confronted them armed with a gun while they were parking their car.
As the victim tried to drive away, the suspect fired several shots, police said. None of the gunfire struck the victim, but at least one bullet hit their car, shattering its rear window.
The driver was not harmed during the incident and traveled to a safe place before speaking with police, police said. Investigators recovered ballistic evidence at the scene.
