1 found dead after overnight fire on second floor above bar in Barberton

BARBERTON, Ohio — One person was found dead after an overnight fire, which happened on the second floor above the Shannon Bar in Barberton .

It was around 11:42 p.m. Wednesday when Barberton fire crews responded to the scene in the 100 block of 16th Street Northwest “for reports of smoke and flames coming from the second story of the structure with possible victims trapped.”

When crews first arrived, the Barberton Fire Department says units found heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows of the second story.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 12:16 a.m.
