ATHENS – A three vehicle crash on Route 9W in the vicinity of Leeds-Athens Road in Athens resulted in the death of one of the drivers, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The accident occurred at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9.

Deputies said a 2006 Toyota Sienna, driven by Darin Lucido, 57, of Cairo, was reported to have been traveling southbound and a 2018 Ford Explorer was going northbound with the two vehicles colliding. Lucido was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third vehicle, a 2019 GMC Acadia, was traveling northbound and was unable to avoid the collision, crossing between the impacted vehicles and sustained damage.
