GREENVILLE, S.C. —

South Carolina families who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, will no longer be able to buy candy, energy drinks, soft drinks, and sweetened beverages.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins approved Gov. Henry McMaster's waiver to exclude the purchase of such items from the list of eligible foods under SNAP.
