MINNEAPOLIS — Two people are dead after shootings that took place within thirty minutes of each other in Minneapolis Wednesday night.

The first shooting took place just before 9:30 p.m. near 2900 Emerson Ave. N. in the Hawthorne neighborhood on the city's north side. Squads responded after ShotSpotter technology was activated, along with multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said officers arrived to find a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers believe that a verbal argument took place before the shooting. Witnesses described two people dressed in black running from the scene.

The man who was shot died shortly afterward at North Memorial Medical Center.

Then at 9:50 p.m., a second fatal shooting took place in Ventura Village. Offic
