SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - It’s a symbolic event to honor the men and women who sacrificed everything for our country.
Thursday, wreaths will be laid on the graves of veterans in Sioux City.
A total of 4,500 wreaths were delivered to Memorial Park Cemetery, Wednesday, Dec. 10, to honor the veterans who are laid to rest there.
“I walked these hallowed grounds many times, laying flags. I know where some people are buried, their awards. I hear them saying remember veterans. Remember us. Remember our service and what this country is all about,” said Rene Lapierre, Siouxland Freedom Park Board President.
Every wreath is handmade. They come from Wreaths Across America and are made in Maine. The wreaths are a symbol of support for the fallen.
