The Golden Valley Electrical Association board of directors delayed a vote on a proposed power purchase agreement with the Delta Junction Renewable Resources/Ameresco wind project (also known as Delta Wind) at its Tuesday meeting.
Board members cited several uncertainties, including a lack of formal submission from the company, a looming July 4 deadline for federal tax credits, and a required permit from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Ameresco project has the potential to generate up to 36 megawatts of power using wind, solar and battery system backups. It’s also one of two wind projects GVEA is analyzing. The other project is the larger-scale Shovel Creek Wind Project near Murphy Dome, led by Alaska Renewables and Boston-based Longroad Energy.
