LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Channel 8’s second annual winter coat drive with the People’s City Mission is underway on Thursday.
Stop by the station until 6 p.m. to donate new or gently used coats.
You can also meet some familiar faces like Rod Fowler, Sophia Pollman, Rusty Dawkins and Nate Johnson.
As of 11:45 a.m., over 1,400 coats and other assorted winter clothing items have been donated.
Pastor Tom Barber, the CEO of the People’s City Mission, said warm clothing is a necessity when the temperatures begin to drop.
He estimates that the People’s City Mission goes through about 5,000 to 10,000 coats annually between its shelter and help center.
