Erin and Ben Napier are sharing an update about the hotel at the center of a “Home Town” spinoff — and the devastating fire that severely damaged the property over the summer.

The renovation of The Heirloom, a 30-room boutique hotel in the Napiers’ hometown of Laurel, Mississippi was captured for HGTV’s “Inn This Together." But on Aug. 26, a fire broke out in the building, as Erin Napier shared that day in an Instagram post, mentioning her close friends and owners of the venue, Mallorie and Jim Rasberry and Joshua Nowell.

“We held each other,” Erin shared in the post, “and watched while the brave fire fighters from the Laurel FD worked for hours to get it under control. Today feels like a funeral.”

At the time, Erin wasn’t sure if the series would be released. But Ben confirms in an interview with USA TODAY, ahead of a new season of “Home Town” debuting Jan. 4 (HGTV, 8 ET/PT), that viewers will get to see the hotel’s transformation.

“The episodes are going to air,” Ben says, estimating the spinoff’s arrival to be “later” in 2026. (HGTV could not provide a premiere date just yet.)

“This was their baby,” Erin adds of her three friends. “To watch them give their all − and I really mean give their all to create this masterpiece − and then to watch it burn together, was devastating.” But the Rasberrys and Nowell have shown an admirable resiliency, Erin says.

“They're still somehow finding a way to keep looking at the next steps and (asking), ‘Where do we go from here?’” Erin says. “And I don't know where they're going to go, yet. But, man, I'm proud of them. I think − even though it didn't go the way we all were expecting and hoping and excited about − if you want to see human endurance and the spirit of we can do hard things, it is going to be that hotel series.”
