ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - As winter approaches, the city of St. Louis is working on ways to keep those affected by the May 16 tornadoes safe through extreme weather and temperatures.

In a press conference and following a press release from St. Louis City Mayor Cara Spencer, safety plans were laid out to help those affected by the spring tornadoes as the winter months begin. The options include short-term housing, outreach workers to check on unhoused in the area, and information on an upcoming community meeting and resource fair.

Those affected by the tornadoes who are either families with children, over 65 years old, or have accessibility or functionality needs qualify for short-term housing that includes hotel rooms or emergency rental assistance. Over $10 million is being alloc
