ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A St. Louis animal shelter is urgently seeking foster homes for its dogs after the facility’s heating system failed Friday.

CARE STL has repaired two of three heating units since the failure occurred, but discovered another problem with one of the working units today. With bitter cold temperatures forecast for the weekend, temporary fixes like space heaters may not provide adequate warmth for the 8,500-square-foot facility.

The shelter had 26 dogs remaining that need temporary homes before this weekend’s dangerous cold weather arrives.
