PEORIA ( WMBD Radio ) - Peoria Public Works’ Snowfighters are returning to around-the-clock operations Thursday morning as crews prepare for another round of winter weather.

Public Works’ Nick McMillion says forecasts indicate snow will begin between 1-4 p.m. and continue through 2-5 a.m. Friday, with 2-4 inches of snow expected.

Crews will be pretreating hills and overpasses with brine on Thursday ahead of the snow to help reduce slick conditions once the snow begins.

Due to the timing of this storm system, significant travel impacts are likely during the evening commute. Heavy snow may lead to rapidly changing road conditions, including slick and snow-covered streets throughout the evening and overnight hours, McMillion says.
