Labour promised women safer lives when they came to power, saying they’d halve violence against women and girls in a decade.

Key to that promise was the long-delayed Violence against Women strategy, which Channel 4 News understands is now “imminent”. It’s likely to include the use of Domestic Abuse Protection Orders, or DAPOs – which several police forces have been trialling.
