Congress recently passed a law that’ll strengthen protections to mothers and parents flying with breastmilk — legislation that was championed by a TV host known for science and space-related programming who shared her humiliating encounter with TSA agents several years ago.
Emily Calandrelli, host of “Emily’s Wonder Lab” on Netflix and known as The Space Gal on social media, described her challenges going through security at Los Angeles International Airport as a breastfeeding mother in a social media post from 2022, spurring other mothers to share their own “horrible” experiences with TSA.
“It is infuriatingly common to encounter TSA agents who don’t know the proper protocol around pumping and feeding babies — and it shouldn’t be this way,” Calandrelli wrote.
