The daughter of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says she is taking a break from social media for the next few weeks, citing "scary" emails, messages, and comments she has recently received.

“When it comes to my safety and my family’s safety, there has to be a line there. In the past few days, there have been some things that have crossed that line. I have gotten some really scary emails, DMs, comments, just stuff on the Internet,” Hope Walz said in a TikTok video shared Wednesday.

“I never thought that I would have to do this, but it is at a point where what is being said on the Internet potentially has real-life consequences that could potentially harm me or my family.”
