J.K. Rowling has weighed into the row over how a 'made-up' quote got into the tribunal service judgement on nurse Sandie Peggie , who was suspended following a row with a trans colleague over the use of a female changing room. ‌

Yesterday judges were forced to correct a quote contained within the 300-page document. ‌

The quote in question concerns a previous employment tribunal which Maya Forstater, who leads the charity Sex Matters, was involved in. ‌

The quote said the verdict in Ms Forstater’s case emphasised the Equality Act does not create “a hierarchy of protected characteristics”.

In the amended version of the judgment, a different passage from the earlier case is quoted.
