A charming house set back on Old Denville Road in Boonton Township, with a pond and a view of the Rockaway River, is home to the Meyer family.

That idyllic description of the home and the family that lived there was shattered by the "unintelligible screams" of Gregory Meyer on Dec. 24, 2023, according to Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Tara Wang.

"Screams that you will learn are the last sounds that Greg made before his life came to a blunt and gruesome end at the hands of the defendant, Kyle Meyer," Wang said during her opening statement on Dec. 9.

Kyle Meyer, Gregory's adult son, is accused of killing his father with a 6-foot, battery-operated pole saw and an ax. Gregory Meyer was found with wounds on his left leg, head, hands and fingers.
