RANDOLPH — Eight years after launching her political career with a swing through New Jersey diners, Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill returned to that familiar territory Thursday on a tour that will take her to greasy spoons across the Garden State ahead of her inauguration. In the process, the Democrat from Montclair retraced her first political steps on a journey that has taken her from upstart rookie candidate for Congress to the top seat in Trenton.
Midway between her November election victory and her January inauguration, the former congresswoman returned to her district on Thursday to visit the Randolph Diner, a popular spot on Route 10 with its own sports bar and conference room.
