The State of Tennessee has carried out its third execution of the year. Harold Wayne Nichols died by lethal injection at a Nashville prison.
Outside the wall of Riverbend Maximum Security Prison gathered a small group of people from all walks of life.
"It's a very hard day, as you can imagine, for so many people. So I'm here to be a part of that community," David Bass, protester, said.
You hope for progress and to put one foot in front of the other. And this doesn't feel like that," Protester Stephanie Dunn said.
Each weighing if taking the life of one brings justice for the life taken of another.
That's the price the State of Tennessee upheld Thursday as Harold Wayne Nichols was executed for the rape and murder of Karen Pulley.
