'We really just try to find people who need our help as much as we can, and if we have more to give, we try to give it out at the end'

The Women in Need Society (WINS) is launching its annual Holiday Gift Room next week, with a unique approach to providing gifts to kids and families in need.

The Gift Room, which runs from Dec. 17 to 23 at WINS’ Beltline and Dover community resource hubs, allows families to come in and “shop” for gifts — free of charge — for kids up to age 17.

“Their guardians, family members — whoever has signed up — can come into our Gift Room and actually choose the gift that they would like to give to their child,” said WINS program manager Sam Schmidt. “They get to just shop around and pick the gifts for their kiddos, and then we’ll wrap them up
