CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The Carbondale Police Department hosted its 24th annual Community Christmas Store, helping nearly 200 children.

According to the police department, they provided winter items, shoes and holiday gifts to 194 children, ages 1-10, representing 89 families throughout Carbondale.

They said participating families received new coats, shoes, Christmas presents, books, movies and stuffed animals.

Organizers say this year’s event was made possible through contributions from community partners, including the Carbondale Kiwanis, Carbondale Walmart, Murphysboro Walmart, Shoe Carnival, Friends of the Carbondale Public Library, First Responders Children’s Foundation, Wee Care of Jacob, as well as numerous individual donors.
