BRAINERD — The Brainerd Family YMCA hosted a “Girls Only” basketball program Wednesday, Dec. 10.

The Brainerd Warriors varsity girls’ basketball team volunteered to work with young girls on their basketball skills, helping to develop future Warriors while strengthening connections between youth players and their high school role models.

Through programs like this, the YMCA highlights how local athletes are building not only basketball skills, but also future leaders. Research indicates that girls who participate in sports develop strong leadership skills.
