OWEN COUNTY, Ky. (WAVE) - A new bill introduced to the US Senate has hemp farmers in Kentucky hopeful they will be able to keep growing.
Legislation passed a month ago by Senator Mitch McConnell shut down a loophole that has created a booming and profitable market for products containing buzz-inducing THC from hemp.
Hemp supporters fear the restrictions would eliminate many popular hemp products like THC gummies and seltzers.
The new bill filed by two US senators from Oregon raises hopes that the future for hemp is regulation, not prohibition.
“We are talking about a $28 billion American-made, homegrown supply chain of low-dose THC products that are available across a much broader marketplace than we have ever seen in American history,” Thomas Winstanley, Edibles.com Executive VP, said
