BUFFALO, N.Y. — Federal Court Judge Lawrence Vilardo on Thursday reserved decision on the latest bid by the attorney for Amherst police detective Gregory Trotter to have the case against Trotter dismissed.
Trotter is accused of lying to the FBI during its investigation of Pharaoh's strip club owner Peter Gerace.
Prosecutors are seeking to put Trotter on trial for a second time, after his first trial ended with a hung jury in September.
There has been no date set for a second trial for Trotter, who is seeking acquittal pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 29, which allows a court to enter a judgment of acquittal of any offense for which the evidence is insufficient to sustain a conviction.
