BOSTON —
City Year Greater Boston members are mentors, role models and offer near-peer support to students. Donning signature red jackets, they stand out.
Julie Rackauskas, the middle school leader at Dorchester's TechBoston Academy, said they are changemakers in her hallways and classrooms.
"Whether it's working one-on-one with a kid," she said. "Whether it's showing up for their basketball game late at night after they've been here since 6:30 in the morning, their commitment to our student success is really, I think, what we value most about this partnership."
Fifteen schools in Boston and Medford are currently partnered with City Year, a national AmeriCorps program that started in Boston in 1988.
