A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 9:50 p.m. for snow until 11:15 p.m. for Manhattan and Brooklyn.
"At 9:47 p.m., a narrow band of snow extended from near Roseland to Jersey City, moving east at 40 mph," according to the weather service.
Locations impacted by the alert include Jersey City, Orange, Harrison, Crown Heights, Canarsie, Lower East Side, SoHo, Kearny, Brooklyn Heights, Battery Park, Park Slope, East Orange, West Orange, Glen Ridge and Roseland.
According to the weather service, "Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination."
