A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 11:13 p.m. for snow until Friday at 12:45 a.m. for Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
"At 11:10 p.m., a band of snow extended from near East Orange in New Jersey to Ozone Park and Howard Beach in Queens, and was moving southeast at 25 mph," states the weather service.
Locations impacted by the alert include Jersey City, Hoboken, Harrison, Crown Heights, Kennedy Airport, Canarsie, Lower East Side, East Village, SoHo, Kearny, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Brooklyn Heights, Battery Park and Park Slope.
The weather service states, "Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination."
