ASHLAND, Wis. (Northern News Now) - Northland College has been closed since last spring, but a small group of former faculty are working to ensure the spirit of the school lives on.
When the college closed at the end of the 2024-25 academic year due to financial troubles , former staff rallied to form the Northland Collaborative. Board member Elizabeth Andre is part of the team working to preserve Northland College’s educational mission.
“Northland College was such a special place and such a great community that people weren’t willing to just let it go,” said Andre.
The college had been a pillar of the Chequamegon Bay community and economy for over 100 years. Now, Northland Collaborative is charting a new path forward in the form of a microcollege.
