The pradhan of a village in Bhadohi has been arrested in connection with the death of a 67-year-old businessman, who was killed in a hit-and-run.

Police said the victim had lodged a complaint against the pradhan and others alleging corruption. Acting on the businessman’s complaint, police said the District Magistrate of Bhadohi had recently ordered an inquiry and subsequently suspended the pradhan’s financial powers.

Besides the pradhan, Manish Yadav (35), his uncle, Mehilal Yadav (35) has also been nabbed, said Bhadohi Circle Officer Ashok Kumar Mishra. He added that two other wanted accused — Manish’s nephew, Sujit Yadav (son of Mehilal) and another uncle, Munnalal Yadav — are still absconding, and raids are being carried out to trace them.
