WINNEBAGO, Neb. (KTIV) - School officials in Northeast Nebraska have released information on an incident where someone reportedly brought a firearm onto school grounds.
A letter released by Winnebago Public Schools states the incident happened on Wednesday, Dec. 10, after classes were dismissed.
According to the letter, at around 3:35 p.m., a person entered the Winnebago Public Schools building while carrying a holstered firearm.
“At the time the incident occurred, most students were already gone home for the day,” stated the school’s letter, signed by Superintendent Kamau Turner. “The individual did conduct the business that they stated at the front office.”
When staff learned the individual had a holstered firearm, law enforcement was contacted and sent to the building.
