LOWELL, Mich. — The City of Lowell has suspended its participation in a potential project that would have allowed a data center to be built in the area.

In a Facebook post on Friday morning, the city said if and when the prospective tenant of the data center comes forward with specific details about what they're asking for in terms of water and wastewater use, the city would be open to reengaging with the project.

The city said it is still committed to working with Lowell Township on its combined water and wastewater agreements.

The decision to suspend participation in the project comes after more than 100 people showed up to a Lowell Township planning commission meeting on Monday night at the Lowell Charter Township Hall.
