CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Two probationers who broke the rules were ordered to prison Friday by Harrison Circuit Judge Joseph F. Shaffer.
Shaffer sentenced Michael Justin Vernon, 35, of Hepzibah, to a year in jail, followed by three to 20 years in prison. The judge sentenced Michael Warren Crofford II, 45, of West Milford, to one to five years.
Probation Officer Eric Spatafore — filling in for Probation Officer Anthony Sorbin — testified Vernon had dealt Xanax and Suboxone throughout the period of his brief probationary period (it began Nov. 6).
That drew the ire of Harrison Prosecutor Rachel Romano, who asked for fully consecutive sentencing for the misdemeanor of B&E of an auto, and the felonies of fleeing with reckless indifference, grand larceny, and conspiracy.
