NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Men and women in Davidson County wanted on state warrants in Nashville have the opportunity to get a second chance.

The Nashville Safe Surrender event began Friday and will continue throughout the weekend.

Those wanted for non-violent crimes can show up at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church to safely surrender. There, they will be able to speak with an attorney and appear before a judge, either from the Criminal or General Sessions Courts, and there are no religious requirements.

“The police department is proud to be a founding member of Nashville Safe Surrender,” said Chief John Drake. “This is a real opportunity for persons to address outstanding warrant issues before the December holidays and eliminate the family stress associated with knowing those warrants
