A 52-year-old man from Jamestown, Tennessee is in custody after a wild chase through Dade County and Marion County on Sunday, December 7.
Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross said his deputies saw a car with an "equipment violation" exit I-24 West onto Hwy 299. When they tried to stop the car, the driver did a u-turn to get back on the interstate.
He says the driver sped off, heading northward across the state line towards Haletown in an attempt to flee deputies.
One deputy did a PIT maneuver on the suspect's car in attempts to end the pursuit, but after spinning around, the driver continued in the other direction, hitting a Dade County sergeant head-on.
