At Glastonbury Chabad, the oil is already sizzling with their first batch of fresh latkes of the year.

Standing over the hot pan, Rabbi Yosef Wolvovsky explained that the original miracle of Hanukkah is the oil lasting longer than it should naturally in the temple.

“We’re eating oil-based foods so that we commemorate the miracle not just in a spiritual way, but also in a very concrete way,” Wolvovsky said.

For the first time this year, the Chabad hosted a pop up Hanukkah shop filled with many different items from hats to socks.

Beyond the fun decorations, the symbols of the holiday have a deeper meaning to the Jewish community.
