Hospitals in Manchester had an average of more than 100 beds a day being taken by flu patients last week amid a 'unprecedented wave' of increased cases, new figures show . It's the second highest number anywhere in England, behind hospitals covering the Birmingham area.

Across Greater Manchester, senior health figures have told the Manchester Evening News today (December 12) that some of the region's A&Es are seeing 'double the number of admissions' in comparison to their normal levels as flu cases rise.
