Greene was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Friday, Dec. 12, his longtime manager told NBC News.
The cause of death has not been disclosed, and the city’s medical examiner will conduct an autopsy, according to the Deadline, which noted that police do not suspect foul play.
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, in 1965, Greene discovered acting while living in New York City in his 20s, according to imbd.com.
He became known for his intense on-screen presence, often playing antagonists and complex characters. Greene’s breakout roles included Dorian Tyrell, the main villain opposite Jim Carrey in "The Mask" (1994), and Zed, the sadistic security guard in Quentin Tarantino’s "Pulp Fiction" (1994).
He also earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of a man with schizophrenia in the indie film "Clean, Shaven" (1993). Greene’s filmography includes memorable appearances in "The Usual Suspects," "Training Day," and numerous other films and TV shows.
At the time of his death, Greene was preparing to begin production on an independent thriller titled "Mascots" with Mickey Rourke, Deadline reported.
