CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating after a white SUV was found fully submerged in a creek early Saturday morning.
The Cedar Creek Fire Department responded to reports of a sinking vehicle on Cedar Creek Road near Mack Simmons Road.
Once firefighters arrived, they found the vehicle submerged in a creek about 20 feet off the road.
Crews lifted the vehicle out of the water to check for victims, but it was empty.
Investigators are working to find out whether anyone was driving the car and how it got there.
