Lake Mary High School completed a stunning comeback to capture the FHSAA Class 7A state football championship Saturday night in Miami, defeating Vero Beach 28-27 on a walk-off touchdown.
The Rams trailed 21-3 at halftime before rallying in the second half. The game was decided on the final play, when Lake Mary connected on a dramatic Hail Mary touchdown pass to tie the game before kicking the extra point to secure the one-point victory.
The Florida High School Athletic Association celebrated the finish on social media, declaring: “A HAIL MARY FOR LAKE MARY!!! A walk-off TD and they win it 28-27!!! They are the Class 7A Football State Champions!!!”
