The internal discord within the Odisha Congress has intensified following a letter written by former Barabati-Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim to senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Responding to the controversy, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Das strongly defended party president Mallikarjun Kharge and questioned Moquim’s political intent.

Speaking to ANI, Bhakta Das said individuals “associated with the BJP should go to the BJP,” while underlining Kharge’s long political experience and contributions to the party. He added that Kharge’s political journey and struggles far exceeded the experiences of those currently questioning his leadership.
